IndofinQuantcast Indofin

INDOFIN, together since 2002, is an unusually unique skapunkreggae powertrio from Austin TX. From these very modest beginnings and years spent at what seemed like futile efforts, Indofin has certainly come a long way, becoming one of the defining bands of the central Texas skapunk scene. They managed to play showcases during SXSW from 2003-2007 and even earned a spot on the Vans Warped Tour in 2007. Since the release of their selftitled debut album in the spring of 2005, the band has played over 300 shows in over 50 US cities, as well as doing extensive regional touring around their homestate TX. Indofin has always maintained a strong DIY work ethic, booking five of their own tours, and they have never had a label, an agent, or manager. They have been fortunate enough to share the stage with many of the nation's touring acts including Voodoo GlowSkulls, Badfish Sublime Tribute, The Expendables, Outlaw Nation, The Stingers, The Supervillains, and many more. Despite playing with bands of every imaginable category, the band continues to stick out like a sore thumb in the central TX live music scene, refusing to confine their music to the boundaries of any particular genre. Stripped down now to 3 of the 5 original members, the band is taking their sound in a fresh new direction for the next record, but fans will still be able to experience the raw energy and intensity that Indofin puts into every live performance. Currently, this eclectic group of misunderstood punker sluts has been hard at work on the new album, which they plan to put out independently before the end of 2009. In the last few years, the band has endured numerous obstacles(carjackings, stolen equipment, drug & alcohol addiction etc.). Indofin often learned the hard way many of the cruel realities of the music industry, yet their uncompromising dedication to their craft remains stronger than ever. Indofin's staying around awhile, so be sure to check out a show if you get the chance; you won't regret it and it might even change your life.

SHOW ARCHIVES

Indofin, from Austin TX, is the story of six brothers brought together by music. Together for over four years and brought up on a variety of musical influences ranging from Sublime to Slayer, Indofin plays a powerful blend of reggae, ska, hiphop, and punkrock. Back in 1999, TJ Huerta, Donny Mann, and Eric Tussing moved up to Ausitn from the Rio Grande Valley in Harlingen TX. Their main goal was to start a band. TJ, a former death metal drummer and self-taught guitarist, took up songwriting duties along with Donny on drums and Eric on lead guitar. Thus was the birth of Indofin. Mike McCarthy and Justin Cook, worked with these three at a telemarketing job that first year in Austin, and they all soon became close friends. Mike started DJ-ing for Indofin and Justin eventually took on MC duties, bringing a distinct hiphop element to the band. Neil, a coworker of Eric's filled in on bass in that first year for the band. During this time, the band released their first video, "Koochie Karma" on the Austin Music Network(AMN). Neil left the band soon after, and Chris Greenwood, an old friend from the Valley, played bass for long enough for Indofin to record the Boozer Holiday EP and the video for "Boozer Holiday." In November of 2002, Chris left the band and Albert Huang came in to replace him as Indofin's permanent bassist. Albert, a former local musician/student/drifter/punk from southern CA, fit in perfectly with the band's vibe from the very first day and his unique bass style brought on a significant evolution in the overall sound of the band. Since then, Indofin has been regularly playing on the Austin club scene and is eagerly branching out to other cities in Texas.  In January 2005 Eric would leave the band to enjoy married life.  After his departure,  the band toured all over the US supporting their debut record, which was released in June 2005.  From these very modest beginnings and years spent at what seemed like futile efforts, Indofin has certainly come a long way, becoming one of the defining bands of the central Texas skapunk scene. They managed to play showcases during SXSW from 2003-2006 and their songs Put In Work and Power To Tell were on the AustinPunkRock compilations. In the spring of 2005, Indofin recorded their selftitled debut album, later called The Orange album. The record was recorded over six days at local Austin studio The Bubble with producer Justin Selman(The Arm, YoungHeartAttack). The band also booked their own national tour that summer to support the record, playing cities in NM, AZ, CA,NV, UT, CO, NE, TN, AL, and LA. The first single "Run" was garageband.com's number 2 ska track for several weeks and the song was on Skratch Magazine's Warped Compilation 2005. 2005-2006 found Indofin doing extensive regional touring playing in cities around TX and also louisiana, Oklahoma, and New mexico. Summer 2006 they did another three week tour through Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina. Since recording the first album, Indofin has always maintained a strong DIY work ethic, always booking their own tours, and they've never had a label, an agent, or manager. They have been fortunate enough to share the stage with many of the nation's top underground touring skareggae bands including The Stingers, Liquid Cheese, 6Pack Deep, The Supervillains, In The Face, and many more.  In summer of 2007, they even played the Kevin Says Stage on the Houston date of the Vans Warped Tour.   Despite playing with bands of every imaginable category, the band continues to stick out in the central TX skareggae scene, while at the same time refusing to confine their music to the boundaries of any particular genre.
